Why I Built The Grimblade Portfolio
The world demands preparation, not optimism.
The age of easy growth has ended.
The next cycle is defined by constraint. Scarcity, rearmament, and the return of the state are no longer peripheral forces. They are shaping demand, capital allocation, and risk tolerance.
For decades, capital pursued efficiency.
Supply chains.
Algorithms.
Margins.
That regime relied on slack.
It no longer has it.
We are entering a fiscal-military cycle in which governments, not consumers, increasingly determine demand, and in which hard assets and defence-linked infrastructure regain strategic importance.
Growth is no longer pulled by consumption.
It is pushed by necessity.
When capacity becomes strategic,
allocation becomes political.
I built The Grimblade Portfolio to orient within that reality. Not to optimise for what worked previously, but to remain aligned with what is taking shape.
This is not an experiment in style or timing.
It is a system of discipline.
Its purpose is narrow and personal. To develop a durable resource base in a world where policy, security, and capital are increasingly entangled.
Structure
The work is organised through two lenses.
The Coming Storm
This lens tracks the near- to mid-term phase.
A 12 to 24 month window shaped by mobilisation, inflation persistence, and supply disruption.
Its focus is the real economy.
Energy.
Metals.
Logistics.
Defence.
These are not themes.
They are the systems states rely on under strain.
The Cabal
This lens extends further out.
A 1 to 6 year horizon defined by consolidation between computation, defence, and government.
It is less concerned with price movement than with durability.
Less with opportunity than with control.
What cannot be decentralised
will tend to consolidate.
Discipline
Together, the lenses form a single discipline. To remain positioned where capital and power converge, rather than where legacy narratives persist.
This is not about prediction or performance.
It is about process.
Maintaining clarity when volatility distorts signal.
Acting deliberately when noise overwhelms judgment.
The world does not pause for interpretation.
Preparation precedes understanding.
This publication exists to document that preparation, openly and without urgency.
